2022 should see the release of several Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) projects in the form of movies and TV shows. Along with that, the franchise has already set plans in motion for future projects that will have a much bigger scale with more iconic comic book characters.
Here are some of the MCU movies that we are most excited for.
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness
Starting off the list will be Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, which will be the first MCU movie to release in 2022. Following the events of Spider-Man, No Way Home, the Doctor Strange sequel has been set perfectly for the multiverse to be fully explored.
The movie will have a lot of cameos, and according to many rumors, fans might see faces and characters that they haven’t seen in a long while, and it will be interesting to see the implications of this movie on the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Thor: Love and Thunder
Then we have the fourth movie in the Thor series, which will also arrive in 2022. Taika Waititi’s brilliant direction in Thor: Ragnarok caused a resurgence in the franchise, and has caused quite the buzz with the upcoming movie.
The Chris Hemsworth starrer movie will also have some returning actors such as Natalie Portman who will reprise the role of Jane Foster. Moreover, she will also take up the mantle of Lady Thor, and will likely face Christian Bale’s villainous turn as Gorr the God Butcher.
Fantastic Four
For the longest of time, fans waited for Kevin Feige to introduce the first family of Marvel in Fantastic Four to the MCU, and during the 2019 San Diego Comic Con, he delivered the news they had all been waiting for.
While fans still don’t have any news about the casting, MCU Spider-Man trilogy director Jon Watts will helm the project, and the movie will most likely serve as the perfect ending to Phase 4.
Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania
2023 will see another blockbuster release in the third movie of the Ant-Man series. The movie titled Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania has already finished filming, and director Peyton Reed will most likely end the trilogy with a bang as it will delve deep into the Quantum Realm.
Along with that, Quantumania will also feature a major villain in Kang the Conqueror, who will be played by Jonathan Majors following his turn as He Who Remains in the Loki series.
Blade
Marvel’s 2019 San Diego Comic Con panel ended with a bang as Feige had another major announcement in the revival of Blade, with Mahershala Ali set to feature as the protagonist.
The first trilogy of movies featuring the character made a major impact in the comic book movie space, and this project will most likely initiate the next phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
